Surrey Schools Forum - call for more School Governor representatives

School Governors are still needed to serve as members of the Surrey Schools Forum.

We have managed to recruit a representative for Special Schools and have filled one Primary vacancy but two vacancies remain; one Primary and one Secondary. A statutory body, the Schools Forum has specific decision-making powers in relation to schools’ formula funding and other finance matters. See full details in our News pages.

SGA/VT Autumn Conference  - November 20th

Planning is at an early stage but our latest joint event with VT Governance Services will take place on the morning of Saturday November 20th at Denbies Winery near Dorking. More info to follow but please put the date in your diary.

SGA Spring Conference and AGM

Presentations from our Spring conference on May 22nd are now available for download from our News page. Our speakers were Mark Scarborough, Senior Consultant, Extended Services, VT Group on Confederations - Effective Partnership Working, Philippa Walker from The Key on Community Cohesion in Action and Alan Mills from the Specialist Schools & Academies Trust on Trust Schools.

Ideas from governors for articles are always welcome for future editions. The deadline for the Autumn Term issue is October 5th 2010

  • The latest edition of the Termly SGA Newsletter was published in February. The printed version has been sent to all schools soon but you can download a pdf copy of this and other recent issues also from our NEWS page.
